Strategy & Implementation
Too often addressed as an after-thought, an effective,
proactive communication strategy is an essential factor
to the success of both individual programs and your
organization as a whole. Stamp & Chase offers a
comprehensive, goal-oriented, executive-level view of
communication strategy, including:
- Organization-wide audits of internal and/or external
strategies, communication vehicles and key messages
that focus on the role communication plans in the
success—or underperformance—of specific
initiatives
- Assessment and individualized counsel on communication
approaches used by your executive team to solicit
input, increase understanding and rally support within
your organization and among external constituencies
- Program- and service-specific communication strategies
designed to increase volume and market share, enhance
adoption by key constituencies, or reduce resistance
to changes in operational approaches
- Audience–specific communication assessment
and strategy development, focusing on unique short-term
issues or long-term gaps in understanding that may
be constraining organizational performance
Crisis Communication
Given the complexities in health care – especially
in running a hospital – the key question for leadership
has become not if a crisis will occur, but when and
how it will affect your organization. Most organizations
have recognized that an effective crisis communication
strategy means controlling the message, not trying to
controlling the media. Elements of effective crisis
response include:
- Proactive scenario planning, where possible, including
consideration of probable questions from the media
and other external constituencies, potential responses
from both fans and detractors and the impact on other
areas of your organization
- Solid, focused message development and delivery
- Rapid, straight-forward response when an issue does
“hit the press,” focusing on key messages
to be communicated by credible, well-prepared spokesmen
- Strategies to leverage the communication vehicles
you can control to all key constituencies, considering
not just written but also verbal response
- Selective, non-defensive follow-up communication
to clarify and reinforce key messages
